Therefore, the surgery is usually performed after the age of 40.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of a facelift is to alleviate a number of unsatisfactory signs such as sagging skin, pronounced expression lines, wrinkles, facial furrows, jowls, and lack of facial contour.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these indications, the plastic surgeon may recommend different types of facelifts according to the needs identified during the patient&#039;s evaluation, such as:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mini facelift: the mini facelift is designed to be less invasive than the traditional technique, therefore it is recommended for mild to moderate sagging in the middle and lower third of the face;<\/li>\n<li>Upper face lift: This technique is indicated for patients whose aesthetic dissatisfaction is concentrated in the forehead, brow, and eyelid areas, and can be combined with blepharoplasty;<\/li>\n<li>Classic facelift: in these cases, the treatment reduces the signs of aging in the three thirds of the face (forehead, cheeks, jawline) and the neck.<\/li>\n<li>The ideal course of action will be determined by the plastic surgeon after evaluating the patient, understanding their aesthetic concerns and expectations regarding plastic surgery.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It is important to note that surgery is only recommended after health examinations have been carried out to confirm that the patient is in a condition to undergo surgical intervention.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n          <div class=\"m-content-topics__article\" id=\"como-e-realizado-o-lifting-facial\">\n        <h2 class=\"m-content-topics__article__title\">\n          <a href=\"#como-e-realizado-o-lifting-facial\">\n            How is a facelift performed?          <\/a>\n        <\/h2>\n        <p>To understand how a facelift is performed, we will use the classic procedure as an example, since the mini-facelift and upper third facelift techniques may be slightly different.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of a traditional facelift, the surgery duration can vary between 4 and 5 hours, depending on the extent of the changes, the technique, and the overall complexity of the procedure, including whether it is combined with other surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>The type of anesthesia to be used should be decided beforehand after a discussion between the specialist and the patient. This choice affects the length of hospital stay, since with local anesthesia the patient can be discharged in up to 12 hours, while with general anesthesia at least 24 hours of hospitalization is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>In this surgery, the specialist makes an incision at strategic points, usually following the hairline to access the tissues, repositioning the underlying structures and pulling the skin to create a lifting effect.<\/p>\n<p>After repositioning, which may also involve the removal of excess tissue such as skin and fat, the surgical incision is closed and a bandage is applied to protect the scar.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the results of a facelift are quite natural and do not present a pulled-back appearance as some patients fear. Furthermore, the signs of aging are softened, promoting satisfactory rejuvenation.<\/p>\n<p>In the first few weeks, the patient will have a swollen face, with bruising and discomfort, but by following
